How To Measure For A Hinged Chair Cushion
Hinged chair cushions have a connected seat and back that is made with a pinched hinge design. Our custom-made hinged chair cushions are excellent for use on all types of seating, from patio chairs and porch swings, to gliders and sofas. There are 4 required measurements when designing your own hinged chair cushions. Required measurements include a width, seat depth, back height, and thickness measurements. If you need instructions on how to measure for two-piece deep seating chair cushions, Click Here.
Step 1 - Chair Cushion Thickness
We recommend selecting your cushion thickness first. Our chair cushions range in thickness from 2 to 5 inches.
Step 2 - Chair Cushion Width
The chair cushion width is measured from side to side as shown.
Remember that you must measure the actual area of your furniture that you would like to be covered by the cushion, not an old chair cushion.Step 3 - Chair Cushion Seat Depth
The chair cushion's seat portion is measured from front to back as shown.
Step 4 - Chair Cushion Back Height
The chair back is measured from the bottom of the back to the top of the back, or the height you would like your cushions to go up on the back of your chair.
Avoid Excessive Overhang
For hinged chair cushions that are 3" thick or more, we suggest subtracting half of the cushion's thickness from both the seat and back measurements obtained from the chair frame. This adjustment helps prevent the cushion from overhanging the seat excessively or rising above the back of the chair.
Although a small amount of overhang is typical, thicker cushions can lead to significant overhang issues if the furniture measurements aren't modified to account for the added thickness.
