Double Chaise Measuring Guide

How to Measure for Deep Seating Chaise Cushions

Measuring Your Double Chaise Lounge Frame For Cushions

Our double chaise cushions are perfect for two seat chaise loungers that require a 3-piece cushion set with a seat and two back pads. These beautiful cushion sets are pattern matched and tailor made based on your own personal design. Double chaise cushions require 4 measurements. Seat width, seat depth, back height and thickness measurements are needed for this cushion set. Please follow our measuring guidelines outlined below.
  • Step 1 - Double Chaise Thickness

We recommend selecting your cushion thickness first. Our deep seating chaise cushions range in thickness from 2 to 5 inches.

  • Step 2 - Double Chaise Seat Width

The chaise cushion width is measured from side to side as shown.

Remember that you must measure the actual area of your furniture that you would like to be covered by the cushion, not an old chaise cushion.

  • Step 3 - Double Chaise Seat Depth

The chaise cushion's seat depth is measured from front to back as shown.

  • Step 4 - Double Chaise Back Height

    Overall Back Height
Measure the overall height from the bottom of the back to the top of the back, or the height you would like your cushions to go up on the back of your double chaise.

    Deduct Seat Thickness
Once you have the overall back height measurement, you will need to deduct the thickness of the seat cushion from the overall height of the back of the double chaise. Otherwise, the back cushions will be too tall for the frame.

Determine The Correct Thickness
If you are unsure what cushion thickness to select, you can easily determine the optimal cushion thickness for your chaise lounge frame by stacking a book or two on your chaise lounge to get a rough idea of how thick your cushion should be. If your chaise frame has arm rests, make sure that the cushion is not too thick as this could result in the arms being too low for the person sitting on the furniture.

Measure The Back Height Correctly
If the back cushions of your double cushion set will rest on top of the seat cushion, the seat thickness must be deducted from the overall back measurement. In order to avoid ordering a back cushion that is too tall for your chaise, measure the overall height of your chaise lounger back, then deduct your selected seat thickness from that overall back height measurement.

Do Not Measure Old Cushions
Do not measure an existing or old cushions to order a new custom chaise cushion. Instead, measure the area of the chaise lounge that you would like to be covered by the new cushion. Using measurements obtained from an old chaise cushion may result in new cushions that do not fit properly as cushions often change in size as the fabric becomes worn and stretches from use.

Use The Right Tools
For the most accurate results, we recommend using a rigid measuring tool such as a carpenter's tape measure or a measuring stick. Avoid using 'soft' measuring tools such as tailor's tape.

Round Your Measurements
Your width and depth measurements should be rounded up or rounded down to the nearest ½ inch as most dimensions on our site can be adjusted to a ½ inch precision.
