Loveseat Cushion Measuring Guide

How to Measure for Custom Loveseat Cushions

Measuring Your Loveseat For Custom Made Cushions

Loveseat cushions are made with separate seat and back pads and require measurements similar to our deep seating chair cushions, except we require the full width of the loveseat's seating area. We will split the width measurement you provide into two in order to produce a set in the configuration you've chosen. Loveseat cushion sets are available in full length seat and back, split seat and back, split back only or split seat only.

  • Step 1 - Loveseat Seat Cushion Thickness

We recommend selecting your cushion thickness first. Our loveseat cushions range in thickness from 2 to 5 inches.

  • Step 2 - Loveseat Overall Seat Width

The loveseat's overall width is measured from side to side as shown.

Remember that you must measure the actual area of your furniture that you would like to be covered by the cushion, not an old chair cushion.

  • Step 3 - Loveseat Seat Cushion Depth

The loveseat cushion's seat portion is measured from front to back as shown.

  • Step 4 - Loveseat Back Cushion Thickness

Select your back cushion thickness. Our loveseat cushions range in thickness from 2 to 6 inches.

  • Step 5 - Loveseat Overall Back Width

The loveseat's overall back width is measured from side to side as shown.

Like the loveseat's seat cushion width, you must measure the actual area of your furniture that you would like to be covered by the cushion, not an old loveseat cushion.

  • Step 6 - Loveseat Back Cushion Height

    Overall Back Height
Measure the overall height from the bottom of the back to the top of the back, or the height you would like your cushions to go up on the back of your loveseat.

    Deduct Seat Thickness
Once you have the overall back height measurement, you will need to deduct the thickness of the seat cushion from the overall height of the back of the loveseat. Otherwise, the back cushion will be too tall for the frame.

Determine The Correct Thickness
If you are unsure what cushion thickness to select, you can easily determine the optimal cushion thickness for your bench frame by stacking a book or two on your bench seat to get a rough idea of how thick your cushion should be. If your bench frame has arm rests, make sure that the cushion is not too thick as this could result in the arms being too low for the person sitting on the bench.

Measure The Back Height Correctly
If your loveseat's back cushions will rest on top of the seat cushions, the seat thickness must be deducted from the overall back measurement. In order to avoid ordering a loveseat cushion set with back cushions that are too tall for your loveseat, measure the overall height of your loveseat back, then deduct your selected seat thickness from that overall measurement.

Do Not Measure Old Cushions
Do not measure an existing or old chair cushions to order a new custom cushion. Instead, measure the area of the chair that you would like to be covered by the new cushion. Using measurements obtained from an old chair cushion may result in new cushions that do not fit properly as cushions often change in size as the fabric becomes worn and stretches from use.

Use The Right Tools
For the most accurate results, we recommend using a rigid measuring tool such as a carpenter's tape measure or a measuring stick. Avoid using 'soft' measuring tools such as tailor's tape.

Round Your Measurements
Your width and depth measurements should be rounded up or rounded down to the nearest ½ inch as most dimensions on our site can be adjusted to a ½ inch prescision.
