Throw Pillow Measuring Guide

How to Measure for Square Or Rectangle Throw Pillows

How To Measure For Square Or Rectangle Throw Pillows

Custom designed throw pillows and lumbar pillows are the perfect way to accessorize and accent your furniture, and are an easy and simple way to complete the design of any living space. Follow the instructions below to measure for custom throw pillows. Our square or rectangle pillows require a width measurement and a height measurement. A thickness measurement is not required as our pillows are filled with blown polyester fiberfill and the thickness is relative to the overall size of the pillow, with larger cushions being thicker.

  • Width Measurement

    Step 1 - Pillow Width

The pillow width is measured from side to side at the corners as shown.

DO NOT measure your pillow diagonally or across the center.

If you are measuring the width of an existing pillow, pull the left and right corners tightly in order to stretch the fabric of the pillow along your measuring tool, and measure from corner to corner.

  • Height Measurement

    Step 2 - Pillow Height

The pillow height is measured from top to bottom at the corners as shown.

DO NOT measure your pillow diagonally or across the center.

If you are measuring the height of an existing pillow, pull the top and bottom corners tightly in order to stretch the fabric of the pillow along your measuring tool, and measure from corner to corner.

Measuring Tips
Required Measurements
  • Width
  • Height

Use The Right Tools
For the most accurate results, we recommend using a rigid measuring tool such as a carpenter's tape measure or a measuring stick. Avoid using 'soft' measuring tools like tailor's tape.

Round Your Measurements
Your width and height measurements should be rounded up or rounded down to the nearest 1 inch as the throw pillow dimensions on our site can be adjusted in 1 inch increments.
